Massive AFCON boost for Ghana as defender Akaminko nears Eskisehirspor full recovery

Eskisehirspor defender Jerry Akaminko is close to making full recovery and with the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations looming he could be fit to play for Ghana at the tournament in Equatorial Guinea in January.

The Turkish side have revealed that he could return to action before the end of the year which means he will be fit for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

The highly rated centre back sustained an ankle injury while on international duty with Ghana in June.

Akaminko fell awkwardly during Ghana’s pre World Cup friendly and has been on the sidelines since.

The Ghana international has returned to first team training this week and is expected to return to the squad by the end of the year.

Eskisehirspor have felt the Ghanaian defenders absence having conceded a total of 15 goals in 9 games – the second highest amount in the league.

The former Orduspor player was linked with a move to Fulham last January.

Akaminko made 36 appearances for Eskisehirspor last season.
