Martin Amidu Is Ghana?s WikiLeaks - NDC Activist

Posted On Wednesday, 13th June 2012

A member of the Communications Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has slammed former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Martin Amidu, with the kind of vitriol often reserved for political turn-coats, describing him as Ghana?s version of WikiLeaks; the whistle-blowing website that publishes private, secret, and classified information from anonymous sources.

Gabby Assumin claims the former A-G is behaving as if he has volumes of information at his disposal on the government and some appointees of state, which he can divulge to the public at will without any bother as to its likely repercussions.

To him, Mr Amidu is simply bent on embarrassing the ruling government, just as wikiLeaks has been doing to governments in other countries.

The international, online organisation has been repeatedly accused of navigating technicalities by altering the flow of and disclosing information which could do irreparable damage to diplomatic relations between governments.

The former A-G, has for quite sometime now, been expressing his mind on matters of national concern through press statements with some indicting the President, the government and state officials in the controversial judgment debt payment to businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome.

In a recent interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM?s flagship programme “Kokrokoo“, Mr. Amidu stressed that because he seeks the good of the party, he will continue to pour his heart out and correct the wrong things going on within the party and government through his treatise.

He further stated that he has decided not to use the government and party channels for his advocacy for accountability and transparency simply because he has gone through deceit and betrayal at the hands of the President and therefore expected every discrete advice he offered to be given a slant.

On Monday, June 11, the former Attorney General issued yet another statement on the Woyome saga and emphatically stated that he cannot rely on the integrity of the current A-G, Dr Benjamin Kunbour, to handle the infamous Woyome case with honesty, because he (Kunbuor) lacks the high moral character for that quasi judicial office after manufacturing an assassination attempt on himself.

He also slammed State Prosecutors in the controversial case stressing that the re-arrest of Mr. Woyome smacks of selective justice, pointing out that, ?Mr. Woyome as a person was not the problem. The problem was and is the system and method used to commit such suspected fraud on the Republic?.
