Maritzburg United coach Steve Komphela will assess the condition of Awal Mohammed before making a decision on his availability for Saturday’s fixture against Platinum Stars.

The 26-year-old featured for the Black Stars in their Africa Cup of Nations two-legged ties against Guinea.

The former Kotoko defender replaced John Boye to partner Jonathan Mensah during the two-legged games in Casablanca and Tamale respectively.

Maritzburg United coach Steve Komphela is delighted with the international break for his players and says he will assess the condition of his dependable Ghanaian defender before making a decision on his involvement on Saturday.

“For us it was a good break. We have a lot of youngsters and it gave us a chance to coach,” Komphela says.

“It has been all about final third entry and movement out wide. We are happy and we'll look at his condition."

The Maritzburg vs Platinum Stars match kicks off at 8.15pm on Saturday night.
