Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi has been barred from joining the Ghana U20 camp for preparations towards the African Youth Championships.

The 19-year-old is needed by Maritzburg United for crucial matches in the South African top flight.

The ‘Team of Choice’ are currently managing a mid-season slump and are determined to pull all their resources together to get them back to winning ways.

Maritzburg have thus denied the player’s request to join the Black Satelittes for their training tour of Italy.

The winger will now only be available for the side when the competition kicks start on March 16.

The situation denies coach Sellas Tetteh the opportunity to closely assess all his players ahead of next month’s tournament in Algeria.

Ghana hopes to make a more signifanct impact this term following an abysmal outing in the last edition of the AYC in South Africa.

The 2009 Africa and World champions are drawn in Group B alongside Gabon, Mali and Nigeria.
