Ex-France captain Marcel Desailly says new Ghana coach Avram Grant should be relieved of his post if he fails to win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Grant was appointed six weeks to the start of the tournament and the Ghana FA said it was unrealistic to task the former Chelsea manager to win the Nations during his presentation two weeks ago.

But Desailly says that is no excuse for him to fail.

"Avram Grant should win the Cup or get sacked like any other coach," the 1998 World Cup winner said.

"The people of Ghana want to enjoy-we want to enjoy because football is big in Ghana and it brings a lot of happiness to people when the Black Stars win. We are expecting him to win.

"He (Avram Grant) knows how difficult it is to coach in Africa; because you have to deal with many elements: cultural elements like behaviour and ego. I'm sure he knows about all these and will do his best to bring the Black Stars very high.”
