English giants Manchester United have completed the signing of Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah from Ajax Amsterdam, the club has confirmed.

The 16-year-old will join Paul McGuinness' Academy squad to continue his development through the club's ranks.

"Manchester United agreed a deal to sign Timothy Fosu-Mensah from Ajax ahead of the transfer deadline," a statement on their official website read.

"Fosu-Mensah still requires an International Transfer Certificate to be processed in order to make his debut for Paul McGuinness' Academy squad, but his versatility and ability mark him out as an excellent addition for the Reds," the statement added.

It is claimed that he has completed his medical at their Carrington training base after Ajax agreed a £300,000 fee and will be unveiled once the International Transfer Certificate is processed.
