Man-of-the-Week: Rio Ave winger Christian Atsu

Posted On Monday, 14th May 2012

Christian Atsu has been named Rio Ave Player of the season

Rio Ave winger Christian Atsu Twasam is GHANASoccernet.com’s Man-of-the-Week.

Atsu, 20, is awarded for his sensational strike against Liga Sagres champions FC Porto- a club who farmed him out at the start of the season, in a 5-2 defeat.

The former Cheetah FC player claims the award from Ghana striker Ishmael Yartey who picked the prize last week following his brace for Al-Ain in the UAE Pro League.

The Rio Ave Best Player of the Season award winner made light work three Porto defenders before rounding up the goalkeeper to score his sixth goal of the campaign in the 66th minute.

GHANASoccernet.com salutes Atsu for his consistent form and his impressive display over the weekend.

Elsewhere, Ishmael Yartey was once against the center of attention as he set up the goal that handed the maximum points to FC Servette on their visit to Zurich.

Former Ghana U17 skipper Paul Addo excelled in a scrapper midfield role for Odd Grenland who thumped Hønefoss 4-1.

Striker Asamoah Gyan took his league tally to 20 after scoring the third for Al-Ain in their 3-1 win over Al Shabab.

Youngster Abdul Majeed Waris further enhanced his credibility as a goal scoring colossus when he grabbed his sixth goal of the season as Hacken lost 3-2 to champions Helsingborg.

USA-based Dominic Oduro also performed creditably.

  5. prince says:

feyenoord fetteh football acacdemy made it possible for atsu to go to porto if people dont know. cheetah did nothing, they were and still are depending always on feyenoord. when it comes to player youth development, feyenoord is the best in west africa……fuck all haters.

  7. juliet dodoo says:

Yes,facts are facts and cheeters are cheeters

  8. messi says:

now have you seen you are claiming ownership of the boy.feyernood dont treat players well.for instance how can you ask a player to play for kotoko whiles a lot of clubs are willing to sign him and because the boy refused to go to kotoko you have sack him.in atsu’s case the president of the cheetah fc football club wanted to send him outside the country but you refused to let the boy go.meanwhile there was only one year left on his contract so he sat home for one full season without playing active soccer.when the season was over it there that the man send him to fc porto.so you see the way feyernoord treat players .the boy is cheetah fc player not feyernood.

  9. THE TRUTH IS OUT N LIARS DISAPPEAR.
