Ghanasoccernet.com announces Asante Kotoko striker Kofi Nti Boakye as Man-of-the-Week after his brace helped the Porcupine Warriors cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over New Edubiase United to lift the 2012 Ghana Super Cup on Sunday.
The 25-year-old former Ghana U20 striker underlined his swashbuckling pre-season scoring form with a goal in each half to hand Kotoko their first silverware for the season.
Boakye appeared to get better with each passing minute and rounded up the Edubiase goalkeeper to open the scoring in the 18th minute after capitalising on a defensive blunder by defender Richard Addai.
The quick-silver forward doubled Kotoko’s lead just 11 seconds into the second half after intercepting the ball from Edubiase’s kick-off.
He could end the season with the top scorer gong if he keeps up his scoring form and win a place in James Kwesi Appiah’s strikeforce.
GHANASoccernet.com salutes Nti Boakye for his exceptional display in the Ghanaian Super Cup on Sunday. He wins the Man-of-the-week Award.
Meanwhile the weekend saw sterling display from Ghanaian players across the globe with five of them getting on target.
Jordan Ayew, Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, Asamoah Gyan, Dominic Adiyiah and Bristol City’s Albert Adomah all deserve a special mention.
