Swedish-based striker Abdul Majeed wins the Ghanasoccernet.com Man-of-the-Week after he hit a hat-trick and set up a goal for BK Hacken in their 5-1 demolition of Syrianska FC on Saturday in the Swedish top flight.
The 21-year-old who has been in sparkling form in the Allsvenskan found his scoring boot once more and he did that in grand style.
Waris opened the scoring for Peter Gerhardsson’s side in the 41st minute and was the arhitect of Martin Ericsson’s second in the nick of half-time.
He then buried a penalty which he won in the 64th minute with a powerful drive.
The Syrianska defence thought the raid was over with full-time approaching but Waris fired a powerful low drive past Dwayne Miller to complete his hat-trick.
The former Right to Dream Academy graduate’s impressive 22 goals in 25 games this season has attracted interest from Chelsea, Feyenoord, FC Porto, PSV and several other stellar clubs from Europe.
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah could bank on Waris to supply the goals in Saturday’s crucial 2013 AFCON second-leg qualifier against Malawi in Blantyre.
GHANASoccernet.com salutes Majeed Waris for his sensational scoring form over the weekend. He wins the Man-of-the-week Award.
Striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom also deserves a mention for scoring for the second week running after scoring all two goals for Sassuolo in their 2-1 win over Grosseto.
It’s very, very sad that Akwasi Appiah doesn’t know how to use this important player.
Apart from scoring goal, he is also an excellent winger on both sides of the field, always providing goal-scoring chances in abundance.
It is not just Warris that Appiah doesn’t know how to use. Udinese and Juventus have demonstrated over and over again that they know how to get the best out of Kwadwo Asamoah, but Black Star coaches do not seem to know how to use him, pathetic. Only Milo was good at deploying Kwadwo.
Gsn will do any thing posible to influence Kwasi Appiah’s choices. I wonder why it is just today that u started choosen the player of the week. I think the should base his selection from what goes on during training.
Training can deceive any coach. The coach should know the players very closely, their strength, weaknesses and temperament. Some players do well in training but freezes on a bigger stage. Some are lazy in training but loves to showcase their talent on a bigger stage aka Balotelli etc.
This boy should quickly move to main land Europe to develop his talent preferably Holland or France. With Warris,Atsu,Richmond and Jordan I know very soon our striking problem will be solved soon.
Fantastic striker ever. I bet u dat in a yr time, Ghana wil rule Africa n de world as far as football is concern. Gh is blessed wit talents. A.A should adopt dis 4mation 4 de malawi clash. 4-4-2: kwarasay, paintsil, afful, boye, vorsah, annan, atsu, k.asamoah, gyan, waris n ayew.
