Kojo Frimpong has been handed a six-month jail sentence for admitting to stealing building materials from Asante Kotoko’s training site at Adarko Jarchie.

Frimpong was apprehended carrying iron rods from the training site at the time the champions were losing 1-0 to Heart of Lions last Wednesday.

The Ejisu Magistrate Court has now sentenced the Kumasi resident to six-month imprisonment having admitted in open court of the theft.

“Well, he admitted to being guilty of stealing the iron rods and pleaded for leniency,” Kotoko’s Operations Manager George Kennedy revealed to Metro FM after the hearing.

“So the judge looked at all these factors and handed him a sentence of six months so that he learns from his mistakes.

“We are now taking steps to move the stolen rods back to the custody of the club.”
