Malawi must work hard to eliminate Ghana
Malawi coach Kinnah Phiri says they will ‘sweat blood’ to beat Ghana next month to qualify for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars will travel to face the Flames in the second-leg of the final qualifier for the tournament to be played in South Africa.
Ghana won the first leg 2-0 in Accra last week which gives the West African a decent advantage going into the return match.
But coach Phiri says they have not given up on their chances to qualify for the finals, saying the team is capable of overturning the result.
“We have not given up. We have always come down from a defeat in our backyard and managed to qualify. We will sweat blood to get the results we need,” Phiri said.
The Black Stars are responsible for Malawi’s worst ever defeat after posting a 12-0 victory over the Flames in 1962.

Forget it man it jus wnt happn.
This coach is simply a funny man and he is making alot of noise simply because be fears for his job and he is covering this with alot of talking… he even said that thanks first goal was an offside and that the algerian ref was biased and out for revenged against them because his so called flames beat Algeria by three goals… common man he is an empty barrel making alot of promises and now the malawian people are seeking for his sack and has therefore resorted to chinning out fabricated stories about Ghana so that it ll seem like they were cheated!!! He said James sangala booking was questionable!!! The ref was even charitable on the day because he allows the malawians to resort to dangerous physical playing if they should played like this in an African country, they ll even see more red cards!!!Those who knows don’t talk and those who talk don’t know shit!!! He should be thankful that Ghana wasted alot of chances!!! Viva the revolutioncion!!!
Malawi u can easily score those 3 goals if only u cn believe in your selves…they are stilllicking the wounds Liberia inflicted upon dem…we want u to be one of SADCS representitives in S.Africa.
We got to mindful of the physical play of the malawians so as to send fit players & those who will not withdraw in 50-50 challenges.
THIS IS LIKE TRYING TO SQUEEZE WATER FROM STONE.IN
FOOTBALL EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE,BUT THIS GUY MUST
CONSIDER THE ABILITY AND THE EXPIRIENCE OF HIS PLAYERS AND THAT OF THE BLACK STARS AS WELL AS THE
PRESSURE ON THEM AT HOME TO GET RESULTS,BEFORE TALK.THE DESIRE TO WIN ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH TO WIN GAMES,ELSE NO ONE WILL LOSE.
This game is not over yet; be real Appiah.
Mr.Phiri,we know in football everything is possible, but if you will ask me,i should say that your team will count themselves lucky to even get a draw.As it stands now even Brazil or Spain will find it difficult to achieve what you are calling for.I am not a trainer but when i watch the game i could see your inexperienced players fumbling everywhere. You were just lucky to achieve this recent results. You will be beaten if you meet Zambia or Nigeria again.
did i watch a different match, malawians were fumbling as against black stars who had next to no modfield play, couldn’t string three progressive passes together, really? And did someone just say that even brazil and spain will fail to achieve the feat of beating ghana, or did i just misunderstand the whole point, cos if what i think is true, then God help us all.
Now its a do or die affair.
This coach is a dreamer. His team is an Afront to good football. Souther Africans should concentrate on cricket and leave football for the west. Ghana alone has won more trophies than the entire southern Africa.
COULDNT AGREE WITH U MORE,@KK
