Malawi name strong 20-man squad to face Black Stars

Malawi coach Kinnah Phiri has released a 20 man strong squad to face the Black Stars in next week's 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Flames play Black Stars in the first leg of the last qualifying games of the 2013 African cup of nations on September 9th away in Accra.

According to FAM’s General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda, the squad plus seven other officials will leave the country on Sunday via Liberia.

The team will depart on through Kamuzu international Airport at: 15:15pm local time.

En-route to Ghana, the Flames are expected to fly via Monrovia, Liberia where the team will play a strength texting match before facing Ghana in a do-or-die encounter.

“Malawi team will line up against Liberia on 4th September 2012 at Samuel Dhoe Complex Centre and the match will kick off at 20:00 hours,” Nyirenda said.

Malawi team  to be led by FAM Executive Committee Member  Othaniel Hara with Christopher Mdolo (FAM Accountant) as Logistics Manager-will leave Monrovia on 5th September  to Accra .

The winner of the two legged encounter will qualify for the African Cup of Nations final to be held in South Africa next year.

The second leg takes place during the weekend of October 13-14 this year.

The squad:

Goalkeepers - Simplex Nthala, Owen Chaima and Charles Swini

Defenders - James Sangala, Moses Chavula, Limbikani Mzava, Harry Nyirenda, Pilira Makupe, and Steve Chagoma.

Midfielders- Joseph Kamwendo, Robert Ng’ambi, Davi Banda, Frank Banda, Chimango Kayira, Peter Wadabwa, Ndaziona Chatsalira

Strikers- Jimmy Zakazaka, Robin Ngalande, Atusaye Nyondo and Gabadihno Mhango
