Malawi coach Kinnah Phiri rues loss of goalkeeper Simplex Nthala
Malawi will be without first choice goalkeeper Simplex Nthala for Saturday’s decisive 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Ghana due to injury.
Mozambique-based goalkeeper picked up problem during training.
The Vilankulo FC gloves man was between the sticks when Malawi lost 2-0 in the first leg played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Flames coach Kinnah Phiri admits his absence can hurt his side’s quest to cause an upset on the continent this weekend.
“My main Injury problem is my first choice keeper Simplex Nthala who will miss the return match,” Phiri said.
“But the rest of the players are raring to go and am optimistic we will collect all the three points as that is also the belief of thousands of our fans in Malawi.”
“We are well prepared and only waiting for Saturday where the wheat will be separated from the chuff and as you know my players play as a unit unlike Ghana who depend on individual players,” Phiri added.

You said the same thing during the first leg and we still beat with two solid devastating haymakers… protect your glass chin now cuz this time we ll knock them off and then step on them till it split into pieces!!! No mercy for this football underdog and tomorrow is the final funeral rites!! Vuvaaaaaaaaa the revolutioncioooooo!!!!!
What do you want the 3 points for? This is a knockout competition in case you forgot. If you win by one goal you get your 3 points, but what use is of it? Because that will not take you to SA. What you need is a 3-0 win, which is a pretty tall order.
When was the the last time any African team beat Ghana three un-replied goals?. If they managed to score 3, we just need just a goal which is not impossible.
Whatever that happens in Ilongue, Ghana will qualify. It’s a pity that we didn’t beat them more than 2-0, if we had given 4-0 they would not even talk the way they are doing now. It’s our fault.
