Malawi say they will beat the Black Stars on Saturday

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has declared war on the Black Stars of Ghana by calling on Malawians to put on red colours when the Flames host the visitors on Saturday at Civo Stadium.

The Flames must overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first-leg clash of their clash with the Black Stars in Accra.

FAM commercial manager Casper Jangale dubbed this initiative a mission revenge for the 12-0 humiliation which Ghana inflicted on Malawi on October 15, 1962.

“50 years ago and to be exact, on 15th October 1962, Gold Coast as Ghana was known, toured Nyasaland [Malawi] and mercilessly hammered our forefathers in the beautiful game of soccer by 12 goals to nothing,” Jangale said.

“Our forefathers did not reply at all back then as they were just picked from the streets and it did not matter at all.

“It matters now as our Flames are 90 minutes away from booking a flight to South Africa where the AFCON 2013 finals will be held.

“That is why Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is calling on our football army of supporters, clad in red Flames home Jerseys to go to Civo Stadium this Saturday to avenge the humiliation our forefathers suffered at the hands of Ghana 50 years ago.

“ We need not just say the words that we want Ghana to see red but show Ghana by putting on red Flames jerseys which will be available for sale from Thursday at all points of sale where tickets will be sold at only MK5,000.00.”

Malawi lost 2-0 in the first leg in Accra and now need to win by a three-goal margin to sneak through to the Nations Cup finals in South Africa.

Malawi talks big. After all, it makes the fun and exuberant. The problem with Ghana team is that Ghana doesn’t have quality players. Dede, and Atsu are OK. K Asamoah, Gyan, and others are the worst players in Africa. Even though K Asamoah players for Juve, but he doesn’t have the qualities as compare with Dede.

K Asamoah, pls step your game up.

    • Africanus says:

This Casper man is very interesting, he makes me laugh. Mr. Casper you may be able to beat Ghana someday, but you will not be able to avenge the 1962 defeat to Ghana. Because yu can never beat Ghana 12-0. Sorry, you are stuck with the humiliation forever.

  2. Allan says:

These Malawians are very funny people. You think putting on red shirts will let you win this match? Our players are well tested and can not be intimidated by any country in Africa. Go and ask the South African what we did to them in 2006. Ghana will score the first goal to make their work more difficult. From coach to officials everybody is blowing their horns. Just wait and see and please control your tears when the sledge hammer knocks you on Saturday.

  16. Bibo says:

Yes, Ghana is a good team, they have some history,no doubt about that, but I am afraid they are intoxicated with history too much.

We are a team that relies on determination,teamwork,counter-attacks,and motivation. We might not have some big name players in Europe not because we don’t have talent but because our past regimes discouraged players from plying their trade abroad because politicians didn’t wanna be competed by players financially.A good example is Clifton Msiya who after single-handedly embarrassing Nigeria at the 1984 Ivory Coast Africa cup, was denied to join Barcelona by politicians. This frustrated many players and lost hope of playing abroad.Lately,we have seen some players going to places like Russia,Sweden,Germany,Denmark, and Belgium because football is now professionally administered.Malawi should be a great force in five years to come because of the emergence of academies.

Coming back to the game with Ghana,Malawi is a team that believes in itself despite deficiencies in top European football. We have some few players in Europe but Kinnah Phiri believes in African based players. It is not possible for Ghana to win in Malawi not because they are not good ,but because they will face a team that cherishes to entertain at home and to maintain a clean record on their turf.Malawi is a team that can easily box up an opponent especially when playing at home ,and this is a huge challenge for Ghana.Ghana can qualify but after facing a battering.

    • Africanus says:

I am glad you are honest enough to admit that Ghana can qualify albeit the hard way. Don’t forget that Malawi has to overturn 2 goals plus 1 without reply from Ghana, before you can head for SA. It is possible in football since you have the team work, thanks to your long camping and training session, a luxury Ghana does not have, but improbably against Ghana’s talents.

  17. Chidi says:

two useless teams going for the jugular

  18. Nwankwo says:

  20. Survival says:

Loyality, maturity, love is the make up of our team.go b stars go gh

  21. Bentry says:
