Majeed Waris: Ghana striker peaks for 2015 AFCON qualifier as he ends seven month goal-drought with a goal in Europa League

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris ended his eight month goal-drought by scoring the equaliser for Trabzonspor in their 1-1 draw with Lokeren in the Uefa Europa League on Thursday night.

The 23-year-old pecked the scoring for the Turkish outfit with a first-half added-time close range finish.

Waris scored from close range after Mustapha Yatabaré's powerful strike is blocked by Boubacar Barry at his near post. The former BK Hacken forward was at the right place to brilliantly finish off to ensure parity for Trabzonspor.

The Ghana striker had not scored in a competitive game since scoring for Valenciennes in their 2-1 French Ligue 1 loss against Olympique Lyonnais in April.

Since scoring in the early April, the Ghana attacker has gone ahead to play as many 23 games without hitting the back of the net.

But on Thursday night, he ended his scoreless run by netting the leveller for his side who were losing against the Belgian side.

It is also his first goal for Trabzonspor since joining them in the summer from Russian side Spartak Moscow.
