Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris' blistering form in the French top-flight continued on Saturday night as he scored twice for Valenciennes on Saturday.

The Black Stars attacker once again showed his preparedness for the World Cup by scoring both goals for the side but they ended up losing 3-2 to Ajaccio.

The 22-year-old steered the host ahead six minutes after the break and later restored their lead (in the 72nd minute from the spot) after Benjamin Andre had cancelled out his opener just after the hour mark.

Valenciennes went into the game very aware of the importance it deserves as they push for their relegation survival and after failing to find the net in the entire first half, the Black Stars striker gave them the lead.

Midfielder Arthur Masuaku squared to release Waris and the Spartak Moscow loanee raced to pick neatly finish off the move for his 7th goal of the campaign.

Moments later, the hosts defence went to sleep and Ajaccio capitalised on a mix-up to snatch the equaliser through Benjamin Andre. But Waris was on hand once more in the 72nd minute to put Valenciennes back into the lead.

Midfielder Joshua Nadeau managed to get the better of two Ajaccio defenders before Maor Melikson fouled him inside the box and Waris stepped up to expertly rifle home to restore Valenciennes's lead.

However, with just three minutes of regulation time left to play, Valenciennes allowed their guest to crawl back into the game with Issa Baradji scoring twice within a space of three minutes to steal victory for his side.
