Lyon confirm Mensah exit

Posted On Tuesday, 3rd July 2012

John Mensah has left Lyon

Lyon have confirmed that their Ghanaian defender John Mensah has left the French club.

Mensah ends his four-year stay as he amicably terminated his contract that was supposed to end June 2013.

The Ghana captain moved to the Stade de Gerland in 2008 but has become a peripheral figure at the club which helped them to reach the decision.

Injury problems have seen the 29-year-old defender’s performance level drop in recent times and he is now on the look-out for a new club after the club agreed to terminate his five-year contract a year before its conclusion.

The African star is keen to sort out his future as soon as possible but is leaving all the donkey work to his representatives.

“I will be leaving Lyon this summer, but for now I can’t disclose where I will be going,” Mensah said last month.

“My agent is working on my move so I will leave everything to him.”

Recruited for 8.4 million Euros in July 2007, the Ghanaian international defender played 13 league matches for Lyon.

He spent time on loan at Sunderland in the 2009-2010 season and during the following campaign as well.

He was found with black magic juju populary used in his homeland in his hair, socks and pants. Go Zambia go.

  2. Rabiu says:

Mr. Great, I’m really disappointed in you. What informs your comments on this site? Why are u spewing hate speeches? I read your comments on J.Mensah & the Ayews & the only thing I can deduce is that everything about u is diabolic. Your likes are people who make the world primitive, retrogressive, hopeless & very unsafe. Yes, very unsafe because your comments can only elicit reactions with serious ramification. Your nationality doesn’t matter. What matters is that YOU MUST GROW AND BE POSITIVE IN YOUR THOUGHTS. Why is your name ‘Great’? Probably because you are great in PHD(Pull Him Down). SHAME ON U!

  3. Paa says:

I perfectly agree with you Rabiu. Thank you and God bless u

  4. ERIC, TORONTO. says:

@ Mr. Great. If you Zambians wish to be at the next World Cup and seeing Ghana as your Country’s hindrance and the sudden hatred for Ghana then you people can look into the 2018 competition because by hook or crook Ghana will qualify to Brazil 2014. Zambia is not a match in football to Ghana. Take it from me, your Country lost to Sudan and we lost to you but we will match like a wounded lion to Khartoun and beat Sudan; the last time we were there we beat them 2:0 and what will even destroy your dream is that we will take you people to KUMASI the no-nonsense center of Ghana football and before you realise your chipololo team will be crawling down on their knees begging for mercy. If you doubt my claim ask our Nigerian brothers and those who have played keenly in Kumasi. Ghana will crush Zambia like unwanted ants in a garden.
