Influential midfielder Yahaya Mohammed could quit Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko for rivals AshantiGold, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

Kotoko are yet to reach an agreement for a new deal with the 25-year-old whose current contract expires next June.

The former OG Nice midfielder wants a new offer before the end of the year but the Kotoko hierarchy have failed to meet the demand of the former Ghana youth international.

AshGold who came close to signing the workaholic midfielder two seasons ago have reportedly been in contact and will officially activate a clause in his Kotoko contract which allows him to speak to prospective clubs.

The rasta-haired midfielder reported ill and did not travel with the Ghana Premier League leaders in their trip to Cape Coast on Sunday against Ebusua Dwarfs which ended 2-2.

Kotoko have already lost one of their influential midfielders - Michael Helegbe, to Medeama SC over contract extension.

He played a key role in Amidaus Professionals' campaign last season and is regarded as one of the best players on the Ghanaian local scene.

He captained Ghana to win the maiden GoTv Wafu tournament.
