English giants Liverpool are preparing a summer bid for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng, according to reports in the English press.

The Reds look certain to land a Uefa Champions League spot for next season and want to fortify their ranks with the signing for the towering German center-back.

Boateng has appeared 28 times in all competitions for Bayern this term but Pep Guardiola has sent scouts to monitor around an alternative defender.

And, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is spying on the progress of things and will make a bid for Boateng as he has experience in the English top-flight.

Boateng played for Etihad giants Manchester City three seasons ago and Rodgers feels he has got the requisite gravitas to help his side in both domestic and continental competitions.
