Liverpool fans want Essien banned for Carroll horror-tackle

Liverpool fans have launched an internet campaign to get Michael Essien banned for a horror-tackle on striker Andy Carroll on Tuesday night.

The campaign backed by a moving picture (see picture attached) of the tackle has been posted on the internet to force the English FA to examine the incident that escaped the referee.

The incident, during Liverpool's 4-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League, shows Essien stamping Carroll at the back of his leg after the striker robbed the Ghanaian of the ball.

If the FA examines the incident the Chelsea midfielder faces the possibility of being banned for the tackle that looks worse on replay.

The revelation further compounds Essien's woes after he scored an own-goal as Liverpool exacted a measure of revenge for their FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea.

Luis Suarez produced a brilliant run from wide on the right to get to the byline and his cut-back was turned in by Essien.

The comprehensive victory at Anfield ends the Blues' hopes of a top-four finish in the league.
