Mahatma Otoo's hat-trick powers Hearts to thump Edubiase

Hearts captain Mahatma Otoo scored the first hat-trick of the season in their 5-2 win against New Edubiase United in Accra.

But it was Godwin Osei Bonsu who opened the scoring in the 39th minute from the spot before defender Nuhu Sulley scored his debut goal later on.

The Edubiase defence were able to contain the pressure from the Hearts of Oak attack for the most part of the first department.

Otoo and Edward Affum were held in check but the pressure told on the Bekwai-based side in the last six minutes of the half.

Affum was fouled inside the box and defender Osei Bonsu stepped up and fired past the Edubiase goalkeeper for the opener in the 39th minute.

Mahatma Otoo doubled the advantage for Hearts four minutes later after connecting home an Edward Affum cross from the right.

C K Akonnor’s side returned from the break to throw away their two lead.

Young striker Adam Basit sneaked behind the Hearts defence and drilled a low drive in between the legs of Sammy Adjei in the 57th minute.

Midfielder Bernard Ofori levelled for Edubiase after going through the Hearts defence in the 63rd minute.

The visitors were in cruise control after defraying all two goals but Mahatma Otoo handed them the reality check.

A lofty free kick from the right was headed home by the Hearts captain.

Otoo registered the first hat-trick of the season after powering home from inside of the box in the 84th minute.

Sulley concluded the riot for the Phobians by heading home the fifth from a free kick in the nick of time.

I was @ the stadium this afternoon, the atmosphere was very electrifying. The boys were a bit complacent especially after taking the 2 goal lead, but responded positively by scoring 3 goals in the last 30 mins. C.K gotta work on the defense, but good win for us anyway. Phoooooobia we truly never say die until the bones are rotten.
