Ghana's U20 have gained first leg advantage after securing a 2-0 win over Sierra Leone's Shooting Stars on Saturday in the 2015 African Youth Championship  second round qualifier.

Dennis Tetteh  put the Ghanaians ahead in the 38th minute with a sublime finish after dictating the pace after the half-hour mark.

The Black Satellites proved strong in midfield and were untroubled by the Shooting Stars.

With seven minutes to spare, Inter Allies midfielder Prosper Kassim added the second to put the match beyond their hosts.

Ghana have taken a huge step in their quest to reach the final qualifying round of the competition.

The return leg will be played at the Tamale Stadium on 25 May.

If they advance, the Satellites will meet the winner of the second round contest between Gabon and Rwanda.

Senegal will host the 2015 African Youth Championship between 8-22 March.

The semi-finalists from the eight-nation tournament will qualify to the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.
