Lions claw back to ditch RTU at home

Posted On Saturday, 13th October 2012

Heart of Lions fough from behind to beat RTU

Heart of Lions fought from behind to beat a ten-man Real Tamale United 2-1 in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday at home.

Striker Abdul Yusif Aziz put the visitors into the lead with a just a quarter of an hour gone but Franklyn Osei drilled in a powerful drive home to restore parity six minutes before the break.

Daniel Aquaye converted a spot kick in the 73rd minute to claim the maximum points for Kpando-based side.

Gargo Mohammed’s side were put in the driving seat when Aziz connected Isaac Twumasi cross from the right.

Lions goalkeeper Joseph Addo failed to parry the innocuous cross and Aziz had the easiest of task firing home a half-volley.

Lions were in no mood to entertain their visitors and midfielder Franklyn Osei pulled even in the 39th minute.

He blasted home a rebound from the edge of the box to leave the RTU defence disappointed.

The visitores were then reduced to ten men after defender Hassan Mohammed was sent off in the 63rd minute for a second bookable offends.

Referee O B Amankwah was spot-on when he awarded a penalty against RTU after defender Richard Ocran handled the ball inside the box.

Daniel Acquaye stepped up and expertly converted the kick to hand Lions their first win of the new campaign.
