Liberty coach George Lamptey is worried with the absence of three key players
Liberty Professionals coach George Lamptey admits the absence of trio – Ebenezer Assafuah, Kennedy Ashia and Kwame Boahene will affect the chances of his team in the top-flight.
The three players are part of the country’s Under-20 team expected to travel to Italy and Spain on a training tour on Wednesday night in preparations for the 2013 African Youth Championship.
The trio have remained influential in the Liberty set-up in the Ghana Premier League with Ashia and Assafuah having bagged a total of 15 goals between them.
The Liberty trainer is worried their absence will derail their chances of finishing well.
“The absence of the three players will undoubtedly affect us. They are very important players for us.” Lamptey told Radio XYZ
“I told them before the Kotoko game that their absence was going to affect us and so they should leave on a positive note.
“Their qualities have really helped us this season and I won’t pretend their absence will not affect us.
“But we have a policy at Liberty that allows players to be given the opportunity to highlight their talents at the international stage.
“Playing for the National team is a great chance for them and so we had no choice but to allow them to go.
Liberty will be without the three players for close to a month.
