Liberia tracking Hearts midfielder Mends

Posted On Saturday, 20th October 2012

Liberia are keen on luring Hearts midfielder Esme Mends

Hearts of Oak midfielder Esme Mends is a player who could make a difference to the Lone Stars and they have already began talks with him, Ghanasoccernet.com understands.

The 26-year-old has revealed Liberia Football Association officials are making attempts to get him to commit his international future to the West African side.

Mends who has recovered from a long-term injury lay-off, told Accra-based Happy FM: “Liberia have been in contact with me for sometime now and I’m considering the option of playing for them.”

Liberia coach Kaetu Smith who handled LPRC Oilers, the side eliminated from this season’s Caf Champions League  by Berekum Chelsea, watched Mends play for Hearts in the Ghanaian Premier League two seasons ago and is keen on grafting him to his squad for their 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Liberian officials are keen to secure the former Real Sportive captain before March when the next round of qualifying games for 2014 World Cup qualifiers will be played.
