Lesotho and Angola settled for a point each when they played to a 0-0 draw in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru on Friday night.

Angola remain at the bottom of Group C with one point from three matches, one point behind Lesotho, who are lying third with two points.

The match got off to a promising start with Arsenio Love Cabungula being denied by a defender’s block in the 13th minute, while Phafa Tsosane fired wide from outside the box at the opposite end three minutes later.

However, that proved to be the only meaningful attacking threats in the first half with the only other effort coming from Cabungula, who headed over from a corner in the 26th minute.

The second half had the better chances with Lesotho goalkeeper Liteboho Mokhesi diving low to stop a shot from Job in the 47th minute, while Landu made a comfortable save to deny Tsepo Seturumane at the other end in the 54th minute.

Angola then threatened twice with Cabungula firing wide on the hour mark, while Estevao saw his effort stopped before the line by a defender and then the goalkeeper in the 72nd minute.

Tsepo Likhooana should have done better when he was left unmarked to meet a corner at the far post in added time, but the Lesotho man nudged his effort wide of goal.

The final opportunity fell for the visitors moments later when Rube was given room to get a shot away just outside the box, but his effort sailed just wide of the target.

Burkina Faso lead the group with points from two matches, followed by Gabon with four points and both sides will have an opportunity to stretch their advantage when they meet in Libreville on Saturday evening.
