Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson will check the fitness of Jeffery Schlupp before deciding on his squad ahead of their trip to Newcastle on Saturday.

Schlupp only returned to training on Friday after his bench role for the Black Stars in their 3-1 win over Guinea in the reverse fixture of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Wednesday in Tamale.

The City manager will check the condition of the Ghanaian international before deciding whether to use him for the trip to St James’s Park.

“The ones who are back are in good condition, fit and well,” said Pearson.

“We will have to see how the others are. As it stands we have a pretty fit squad with players available.

“Riyad has played 88 minutes in both games for Algeria and we will have to see how he is after the travelling, and Jeff does not arrive back until tomorrow morning. That’s what we work with.”

The 25-year-old has earned four international caps for Ghana.
