Ghana Football Association boss Kwesi Nyantakyi wants Ghanaians to be measured in their expectations for the team at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
Despite being drawn in a Group of Death alongside Germany, Portugal and USA, there is a big dose of confidence that Ghana will advance.
The high level of optimism stems from Ghana’s exhilarating displays at their previous performances in 2006 (Germany) and 2010 (South Africa).
Nyantakyi, also brimming with confidence, has warned fans not to get carried away.
“I am hopeful that we have a good team and we are capable of qualifying to the second round but I believe that, that expectation should probably be laced with some caution, some moderation and I think the mood in Ghana now is some cautious optimism so that we are not taken unawares and we don’t take anything for granted,” Nyantakyi said.
Ghana will face USA on 16 June in Natal and then meet Germany five days later in Fortaleza before the final Group match against Portugal on 26 June in Brasilia.
