The departure of Kwesi Appiah could spell doom for some current Black Stars players including Christian Atsu and Abdul Majeed Waris.

The Ghanaian trainer was sacked last week despite leading the Black Stars to pick four points from two games in the qualifying campaign for the 2015 African Cup of Nations.

The shocking decision has dominated the major talking points in the West African country since the news broke last week with some current players likely to be affected by his exit.

Appiah nurtured and promoted some of the current squad members including Abdul Majeed Waris, Christian Atsu, Rabiu Mohammed, Albert Adomah and Wakaso Mubarak amongst others.

He gave them the chance to stake a claim in the country’s studded Black Stars squad and could be the biggest losers of his departure.

The emergence of a new trainer means, no player is guaranteed a place in the new-look Black Stars set-up, prompting fears certain players could lose their position in the team.

Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac, who is fancied to stage a return to the Black Stars, is a huge admirer of talented players and will consider given the likes of David Accam, Baba Rahman and other emerging forces the chance to impress.
