Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will not back on constant criticism over the deployment of Kwadwo Asamoah at left-back and insists he will even use him in post if that best suit his tactics ahead of the Uganda AFCON clash.

The Ghanaian trainer has come under line of fire for the decision to use the 24-year-old at left-back in the Black Stars despite the availability of many natural full-backs.

Even though the 24-year-old excelled in the role during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, critics have attributed that decision as one of the reasons for the country’s disastrous campaign at the global piece.

Asamoah has insisted in the past that he's not comfortable being drafted in defense as he sees himself as the creative force in the African side.

But the under-fire Black Stars coach says he’s unsure where he will deploy the former Udinese man ahead of Saturday’s 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda.

“When it comes to tactics, you plan it depending on the opponent you are facing,” he said

“Kwadwo Asamoah is a utility player and can play wherever you put him.

“If for instance Kwadwo can play as a goalkeeper and a feel he can play at that particular time, I will play him in post.

“I cannot tell you know whether I will put him at the back or whether he moves forward.”

Appiah has called up Leicester City defender Jeffrey Schlupp and German-based Baba Abdul Rahman, which has heightened hopes Asamoah will be shifted to his favourite midfield position.

The Black Stars will be hoping to win the Ghanaian fans over with a heavy win after a calamitous World Cup campaign in Brazil where the team failed to go past the group phase.
