New SC Khartoum coach Kwesi Appiah has promised to transform the Sudanese Premier League side into a title-winning club.

The capital club have signed the 2014 FIFA World Cup coach on a two-year deal which will see him compete with giants Al Hilal and Al Merreikh.

Appiah, former Ghana coach, will lead the club in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup after the military-owned team finished fourth in the domestic league.

The 54-year-old said: “I will do my best to raise the image of the club in Africa and promote the professionalism in the club too.”

Appiah faces a tough in the north African country where Al Hilal and Al Merreikh have won every league title since 1970 with the exception on 1992.

But the former Asante Kotoko coach should be equipped for the job after guiding Ghana to finish fourth at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and also qualifying a difficult Group to the 2014 World Cup finals.
