Kwesi Appiah assures Ghana will progress from Group of Death
Kwesi Appiah says Ghana will advance from Group of Death.

Kwesi Appiah is confident Ghana will advance from Group G despite admitting his side were handed the toughest draw for the Brazil 2014 World Cup finals.

The Black Stars have their hands full against regular customers USA, Germany and Portugal.

Ghana, who will be making their third consecutive appearances at the finals, have advanced from the stages in their previous campaign; Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010.

"We have Germany, Portugal and USA and as you said, my group is the Group of Death," Appiah said after Friday's draw in Bahia.

But the ex-international believes his charges are capable of picking one of the two qualification slots after the Group matches.

"I believe that totally there is no way that we will not make it. The most important thing is you make sure you prepare very very well no matter what comes your way.

"Football is of age. Not like before, you need to mention 4 or 3 names and then everybody is scared.

"We have got competent players and I have total confidence we will go past the first stage."

Appiah is the first indigenous Ghanaian coach to qualify the team to the World Cup finals.

He was assistant coach to Serbian Milovan Rajevac in South Africa 2010 when Ghana reached the quarter-final and lost to Uruguay on penalties after extra-time.
