Kwarasey loses Ghana's starting role to Dauda against Congo

Posted On Sunday, 20th January 2013

Adam Kwarasey loses out to Fatau Dauda

Adam Kwarasey has been dropped for Ghana’s opening group game at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations against DR Congo.

The 25-year-old loses his starting role to AshantiGold’s Fatau Dauda for Sunday evening’s match in Port Elizabeth.

The Stromsgodset shot-stopper has struggled for consistency since replacing Richard Kingson as the no.1 goalkeeper of the Black Stars barely two years ago.

His ability to deal with especially aerial balls has been very suspect when in the post for Ghana.

He has now surrendered his position to the locally-based goalkeeper who has looked more composed and assured in recent Black Stars games.

Dauda who will be making just his third start for Ghana against DR Congo on Sunday is yet to concede a goal at international level.

i dont like this move from the coach.anyway all the best.i thought dauda was in post against liberia friendly game so he has conceaded goals.

  2. Viper says:

See how these foreign coaches took the Black Star team for granted, they fielded players regardless of the player’s form or confidence which at times cost us matches, its great to see the coach shaking things up.Now the sanctity of the Black Stars is broken, players now have to fight for a Black Star jersey.

  3. Dr Who says:

Great decision by the coach. We are going to win the match.

If u re given a chance n u fail u get to sit on da bench.
    Simple.

  6. zambia is our toilet hole says:

We are a union and Kwarasey remains ours so this is nothing to talk much about. He himself is happy for the changes because what we all want is a win , he is part of the team and the glory comes to all of them and us all so l don’t think anyone should say anything to offend him.He has been loyal to Ghana not as KPB and co.

  7. PIG says:

Good lucky Ghana, good lucky Congo, may the better team carry the day. To my fellow fans, please remember, this is entertainment!!!Dont kill yourselves with a win after getting over excited or depression if your team loses. If you lose, there are two more games to make amends.

    Good lucky.

  8. Idan says:

This is the first time ashantis people coach has done well with his selection.

  9. Dr Who says:

@razak,you are a big foolish fool with a monkey background.where was Fatau when Kwarasey was making those silly mistakes against Guinea and Botsoana at 2012 AFCON?He was no where near the team. Kwarasey cant be our number one keeper with such inconsistency.Apart from that friendly against Brazil, frankly tell me any match that Kwarasey has performed above average. We cant win anything with him as number 1.
