Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has made several changes to his squad as youngsters Richmond Boakye-Yiadom and Christian Atsu will start in the friendly game against Tunisia on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey is one of the eight changes made by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah to his previous starting line-up that defeated Egypt 3-0 on Thursday in their first warm-up match.

The Juventus striker Boakye, who is on loan at Italian Serie-B side Sassuolo, is being handed a starting role against the Carthage Eagles following an impressive second half display in the 3-0 win over Egypt.

The 19-year-old came off the bench to score Ghana’s second in the comprehensive win over the record African Cup winners last Thursday.

Atsu, 20, who also provided the assist for Ghana’s third goal against Egypt will also start from the onset.

The game also sees the return of first choice goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey with John Paintsil also returning to his right-back position.

The duo failed to come off the bench in the last warm up game against Egypt.

Jonathan Mensah and Isaac Vorsah also get their first starts as they partner in the heart of Ghana’s defence while Kwadwo Asamoah is retained at left-back.

Derek Boateng will continue to play in the hole in midfield ably supported by Rabiu Mohammed and Mubarak Wakaso.

Solomon Asante and Atsu are expected to provide the width in the team with Boakye-Yiadom playing as the lone man up front.

The game against Tunisia is the second and final warm up match for the Black Stars before travelling to South Africa three days later for the commencement of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Coach Appiah has given the chance to several players who were not in the starting line-up when the Black Stars thrashed Egypt 3-0.
The match against the Carthage Eagles is the last before the team heads for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ghana trainer wants to give the opportunity to the other players to observe them before the team departs for South Africa on Wednesday.

Ghana will play its first group game against DR Congo on January 20 before facing Mali and Niger in the subsequent Group B games.

The kick off time 16:30GMT

Ghana’s starting lineup against Tunisia:

Adam Kwarasey – John Paintsil, Johanthan Mensah, Isaac Vorsah, Kwadwo Asamoah – Derek Boateng, Rabiu Mohammed, Mubarak Wakaso, Solomon Asante, Christian Atsu – Richmond Boakye-Yiadom.

  3. Union Leader says:

Last warm-up game,I expected a team that closely reflects the ‘first eleven’ going into the tournament proper. The team facing the Tunisians this afternoon is far from the first eleven. Enough of the experimentation at this stage.

    @Mafia
There is sumtin called team chemistry.
The fact dat AA knows his 1st 11 does not mean they will ve team chemistry when AFCON starts.
I expect him to field a team dat is very close to his 1st 11 to team build team cohesion b4 da start of da tournament don’t u think Mafia.

  6. kingboat says:

I dislike the manner in which Kwesi Appiah is wasting the creative ability of Kwadwo Asamoah at the left back.We need more fluidity upfront.Adomah is not a blackstar material.

  10. junior mafia says:

@words were u not impressd wit da chemistry of the team against egypt? Watch how dis squad plae against tunisia n den tel me our first eleven wil lack chemistry..does AA luks lyk he is jokn..u dnt experiment at da main tournament dis ia da best tym to assess each playa.
