Kwame Karikari mourns AIK Stockholm Europa exit

Posted On Friday, 23rd November 2012

Ghana youth striker Kwame Amponsah-Karikari has expressed regrets over AIK Stockholm’s failure to progress to the knock stages of the Europa League.

The Swedish giants were dumped out of the competition by Italian Serie A side Napoli after beating 2-1 at the Råsundastadion on Thursday.

Karikari, 20, who was part of the 2011 unsuccessful Ghana U20 squad, says their elimination is sad news for the entire Gnagets fraternity.

“I feel very sad about our elimination because we were hoping to advance to the next stage of the competition,” he told Ghanasoccernet.com.

The former Inter Allies striker however believes he has learnt valuable lessons from the competition.

“In some way it was a good experience for me because it was my first time in the competition and I scored against big clubs.

“I hope to remain here and work hard for next season but my future here will be decided after the summer.”

Karikari hogged the headlines in the competition after masterminding the elimination of Russian giants CSKA Moscow and also scoring to earn a draw for AIK against PSV Eindhoven at the Philips Arena.
