Kwadwo Asamoah ruled out of Juventus Champions League clash

Posted On Tuesday, 12th February 2013

Kwadwo Asamoah has been ruled out of Juventus' Champions League match against Celtic

Juventus coach Antonio Conte has confirmed that Kwadwo Asamoah will not be fit to face Celtic on Tuesday evening at Celtic Park.

The Ghanaian met up with his teammates on Sunday afternoon in Glasgow, where he was originally included in the final 22-man squad selected to take on the Scottish outfit.

The fears that his demanding African Cup of Nations schedule may see him only return for the weekend fixture against Roma were confirmed on Monday afternoon when the coach revealed his player was in no state to undergo more strenuous activity.

Kwadwo returned yesterday and it would be asking too much of him to play after being away for a month and a half. He’ll train and will be ready for Saturday’s game against Roma,” the coach announced in his press conference.

Celtic qualified for the round of the final 16 for first time in five-years and Conte expressed his side host a great respect for their opponents but urged his players to continue pushing for the dream.

“We’ve got great respect for Celtic and won’t underestimate them,” he added. “They’re back in the Champions League and, like us, are outsiders who want to go as far as possible. They’re a physical team and score a high percentage of their goals from set pieces.

“It’s a dream to be back in the Champions League and our dream is now to claim a place in the quarter-finals. We don’t have any particular objectives, but we’re not placing limits on how far we can go.”

Its time we go back to the 4-4-2 formation & restrict 4-5-1 to away matches.Ageing Gyan can‘t play the one top anymore.A strong midfield combination of any of the following players- Essien,Dede,Badu,Emmanuel Frimpong,Wakaso,Atsu,Afriyie Acquah,K Asamoah & Annan should be able to send us to Brazil 2014.We need robust & rugged striker cast in the mould of Junior Agogo.Emenike,Bance and Diabate are good examples of strikers with imposing physical presence that cause alot of discomfort to central defenders.Vorsah & Boye partnership lacks co-ordination and they panic at the least pressure causing them to makes mistakes unlike the partnership of Kone & Keba Paul of Burkina.Ghana needs ‘number 5‘ & a ‘number 4‘ not two “number 4‘s“ to man our central defence.John Mensah is the only ‘number 5‘ we have now so our coaches should search for one since John has aged.BS can qualify for Brazil if we decide to use strong players & stop using feeble players who are easily bulleyed in african matches.Lets take our WC qualifiers one match at a time and strategise & win them and let the final decider be the match against Zambia in Ghana which am sure we will win if that is what will take us to Brazil. All hands on deck for Brazil 2014!
