Kwadwo Asamoah races against time to be fit for Malawi clash

Posted On Friday, 12th October 2012

Kwadwo Asamoah is a major doubt for Ghana ahead of Malawi tie

By Patrick Akoto

Ghana boss Kwesi Appiah is hopeful Kwadwo Asamoah will be fit in time for Saturday’s decisive 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi.

The Juventus Star is a major doubt for the return encounter against The Flames after limping in training on Thursday with a suspected ankle problem.

Doctors will further assess his progress in the treatment room before deciding on his involvement in the game this weekend.

But the Black Stars trainer is hopeful he will be available for the crucial game in Lilongwe.

“Training has been very successful. All the players have been participating very well,” Appiah

“Everyone is conscious of the fact that we need to qualify for the cup of nations.

“ For that reasons, everyone is showing effort that he want to be in the team which makes it more competitive.

“The only little problem I’m having is Kwadwo Asamoah. He is limping a little bit but I will assess him when we get to Malawi.

“Apart from that everyone is fine and prepared for the game.”

The potential absence of the 23-year-old will be a massive blow to the former Ghana captain as he needs all his arsenal in top shape to kill off the Malawian challenge.

Ghana must protect a 2-0 advantage from the first leg to qualify to their 19th appearance at the continental showpiece.

Apuutuu!!! Common malawi!! If u can’t beat malawi in their home, then we should forget about winning the afcon in future!!! Common minnow and underdog… i welcome u all to namboolee where renard will be buried forever!!! Vivaaaaa the revolutioncioooooo!!!

  8. Ali says:

Lovely, Phil: thanks for rninmdieg us about the change that forgiveness, mercy, can bring. On a more trivial note: the football players in my family thought Spain won with much diving and writhing ; because we also were routing for Holland (who’ve had many favorite players over the decades), they felt Spain cheated. But the Spanish players’ falling over at every touch reminds me now of how the Israeli government plays the refs: stealing and attacking, then crouching and crying about being endlessly victimized by the world.
