Juventus star Kwadwo Asamoah is excited international teammate John Mensah has returned to active football.

Mensah, a centre-back, has signed for Slovakian side FC Nitra and playing in the top-flight after close to a year out.

His return could convince head coach Kwesi Appiah to include him in Ghana’s final squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals Brazil.

Asamoah, who played alongside Mensah at the 2010 finals in South Africa, says the defender’s availability is a boost for the Black Stars.

“I was very happy when I heard he has found a team and is playing again. It’s welcoming news for all of us Ghanaians especially the Black Stars,” Asamoah said.

“I want us to make a much bigger impact at the World Cup and so I want us to get the best compliments of our players and that is what I am happy about.”
