Kumordzi suffers relegation pain with Dijon in French Ligue 1

Posted On Monday, 21st May 2012

Bernard Kumordzi's Dijon have been relegated to Ligue 2

Ghana midfielder Bernard Yao Kumordzi saw his Dijon side relegated from the French Ligue 1 on Sunday night.

The 27-year-old lasted the entire regulation time for Dijon as they crashed to a 5-0 defeat at Stade Rennes with nine men.

Dijon amassed just 36 points from 38 games and finished 19th on the 20-team table.

Kumordzi made 15 appearances for Dijon and scored once since joining them in January from Greek Super League side Panionios.

Elsewhere French-born Ghanaian young defender Jerry Vandam also had sad news as his Caen side failed to beat the drop after the last day of the season.

They recorded a 3-`1 loss at Valenciennes and finished in 18th place.

Vandam, on loan from Lille, made 35 appearances for Caen and scored once.
