Kumordzi optimistic about Genk Europa chances

Posted On Saturday, 16th February 2013

Bennard Kumordzi, the Ghana midfielder, is optimistic about his side's chances in advancing to the quarter-finals of the Uefa Europa League after holding German side Stuttgart on Thursday

Ghana midfielder Bennard Kumordzi believes his Genk side stand a better chance of advancing to the quarter-finals of the Europa League after forcing an away draw at German side VfB Stuttgart.

The 27-year-old lasted 74 minutes for the Belgian Pro League side as substitute Plet Glynor scored a stoppage-time equaliser for Mario Been’s men.

Kumordzi who enjoyed a memorable evening in central midfield at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena, is quite optimistic about his side’s chances.

“An away point and goal is very crucial for us and we now stand a big chance of going through to the quarter-finals,” he told Ghanasoccernet.com.

“It will be yet another milestone for me to play at such stage of the competition.”

Genk will host Stuttgart in the return leg at the Cristal Arena next week.

SO CAN HE SAVE OUR MIDFIELD PROBLEM FOR US?BECAUSE WE NEED STRONG MIDFIELDER TO TAKE ON POSITION AND THEREFORE WE CAN PROGRESS TO WORLD CUP……………..

  2. Maxwell Johnson says:

BYK has been one of GH’s most consistent players in Europe over the last 5 or so yrs. First with Panionios G.S.S. (Greece), Dijon FCO (France) and now with K.R.C. Genk (Belgium). He hasn’t been given enough opportunity in the national team despite been consistent @ club level but rather average & bench warmers are preferred over active and inform players, GH football is a JOKE!!
