Kotoko's Nii Adjei wins Ghana Premier League Best Player Award

Posted On Saturday, 16th June 2012

Daniel Nii Adjei is the Ghana Premier League Most Valuable Player

Asante Kotoko’s Daniel Nii Adjei was adjudged the Ghana Premier League Most Valuable Player on Saturday for the just ended 2011/2012 season.

The midfielder stunned the season’s top scorer Emmanuel Baffour who was highly tipped to win a double on the night.

Also in contention for the prestigious award was Berekum Chelsea’s leading striker Emmanuel Clottey.

Adjei, playing in his sixth season at the club, played a key role in Kotoko’s title winning campaign.

The former Power FC player earned cash reward of US$ 2,500 (5,000 Ghana cedis).

Adjei’s rival Baffour was confirmed Goal King for the 2011/2012 season after raking in 21 goals although he could not equal Ishmael Addo’s 11-year-old record of 22 goals.

The 23-year-old pocketed US$ 2,500 (5,000 Ghana cedis) for the Golden Shoe Award.

He is on the verge of signing for South African Premier League Soccer side Mamelodi Sundowns who have reached an agreement with his local club.

  5. Moses says:

Nii Adjei surely deserves the MVP award but please get your facts right. He has played for Kotoko for six continuous seasons.

  6. Nii Clottey says:

Bravo to Nii Adjei but i have a reservation on Robert Dabuo winning the goalkeeper of the season ahead of Soulama Abdulai and also Tema Youth’s Joshua Oninku winning ahead of Baba Abdul Rahman for the most promising player award.those two players did not deserve the awards in any way ahead of those i mentioned.PLB/GFA should sit up next time

  7. KT says:

  12. Fresher says:

Well done to Daniel Nii Adjei, congratulations to Daniel Nii Adjei for reaping the benefits of his hard-work, determination, commitments to the good cause of the club, dedication to professional approach, etc. @ NII and KT-: whipping up ethnocentrism is not a wise thing to do, esp to NII, Ashanti and Ga people are good and accommodating people, that is why Daniel Nii Adjei’s mother is an Ashanti from Kumasi, whilst his father is Ga from Accra, a father whom for the love, respect and care the Ashanti people gave him and the the kind he has for Ashanti people made him live almost entire of his life with Ashantis in Kumasi after he ended his playing career the Kumasi Cornerstones, a love and respect which in my opinion even his own Ga people could not accord him. You ethnocentered guys should go and ask His Highness Nii Ayi Bonte, aka Thomas Okine(Uncle Tommy), as to where he started his life and school from? He will certainly tell you at Asem Boys School in Kumasi, and for your information, the school that Nii Ayi Bonte attended happened to be the exact place Kumasi Asante was planned, started and established as a club. For God’s sake, you should stop whipping tribal comments here, because there are over ten(10) players of Ashanti origin playing for H of Oaks currently, and Ashanti players have had an outstanding performances for H of Oaks and had done for H of Oaks what players of Ga origin have not done and could not do for years to come.

  13. Gunshot says:

Say wat? Dis is criminal. Who the fuck is oninku n wat the fuck has he done to deserve the promisin player? Baba rahman shld hav won dis award hands down. N robert dabuo the best goal keeper? Damn the plb. Dis an inditement on the rest of the goal keepers in the league. Wat did dabuo do in the lig dis season? How many clean sheet did he keep ? Even the injured mccarthy was far beta dan dabuo dis season. Soulama kept over 12 clean sheets in 25 matches n had a call up into the burkina faso national team n was active. So wat da fuck is the plb tellin ghs? They shld stop dis pR work they r doin 4 dabuo. Jst give the awards to people who deserve it. ONINKU N DABUO dont deserve their awards period. Plb is tryin to spread the awards but it doesnt work dat way.

  15. Indeed Dr n his boys has made us pround ayekoo otumfuo mma!!!

  16. Olembe. says:

I thk they all deserve it but the only problem I have is the best goal keeping award. By the way, they hv done a gr8 job.

  17. AK says:

At this rate only two clubs should have been invited to the awards. Watching on television, the whole event looked pretty strange. When we go for international awards and our players do not win, we complain of “mafia”. Look at what happened in the name of a Premier League awards event.

  18. RO says:

Well done kotoko. KT go to hell, the continental soccer masters say so

  19. kwame-Blazefame says:

Best CEO SHOULD VE WENT TO Berekum chelsea guy- One man team and look at what they hve done in just 3 years. And Clottey also deserves an award but it all good.

  20. AGYAKU MIM says:

oh, kotoko mode3 a depa a ba fie, fabu papapaa.

  21. Lartey says:

Soulama deserved de best goalkeeper gfa be fair.Gongrates Nii Agyei
