Kotoko writes to FIFA to force Red Star into paying Asamoah's transfer fee

Nathaniel Asamoah in action for Red Star Belgrade

Asante Kotoko have written to FIFA to claim its due transfer fee from Serbian club Red Star Belgrade for the sale of striker Nathaniel Asamoah.

The Ghana Premier League champions are fed up with the persistent postponed payment of the reported €200,000 move.

“Nat’s (Asamoah) transfer was about 200,000 euros but up until now there are problems with payment of the transfer fee,” Kotoko’s spokesman Listowell Yesu Bukarson told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

“So Dr. Sarpong (Kotoko chairman) has asked the our lawyers to write to FIFA to assist us in retrieving this money.

“So as I speak to you know, the matter is still with FIFA and we await their verdict.”

Asamoah joined Red Star in February 2012 where he has struggled to get regular first team action.

Kotoko however are in desperate need of cash to power their campaign in next season’s CAF Champions League while they also look to defend their Premier League title this season.
