Premier League side Asante Kotoko have contacted the Ghana Football Association over the possibility of hiring national team assistant coach Kwesi Appiah.
A source told Ghanasoccernet.com the ex-international is excited about coaching his former club after two years with the Black Stars.
The coaching job at the club became vacant after Ebo Mends quit a day on Monday, a day after losing to arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League derby.
Appiah played for Asante Kotoko from 1981-1994 as left-back and was appointed captain after Papa Arko.
He was a member of the Kotoko squad which lifted the 1983 African Club Championship trophy against Al Ahly.
Reports say eleven local and foreign coaches have applied for the vacant coaching job.
