Champions Asante Kotoko

By Ameenu Shardow

Asante Kotoko will inaugurate a board on Saturday to oversee the club’s academy program dubbed ‘The Fabulous Academy’.

The inauguration follows management’s decision to make the academy a priority in order to cut down the huge costs of recruitment.

The Premier League champions have spent massively this off-season to bring in players for their league defence and also to power their title ambitions on their return to the CAF Champions League.

“The Fabulous Academy program will provide the grounds for nurturing players from our feeder teams of Tutu Stars, Anokye Stars as well as our reserve side,” Kotoko’s spokesman Listowell Yesu Bukarson told GHANAsoccernet.com

“It will also adopt several feeder teams around the country to search for players to be eventually drafted into the senior team.

“This program is expected to save Kotoko the huge costs of buying players and thereby will save the club a lot of money over the years.”

The inauguration which will be performed by Executive Chairman Dr. K.K Sarpong will take place at the Conference Room of the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

now this is what we need…kotoko seems to have the idea…hopefully other clubs will follow soon and hopefully we can have a legit youth system instead of having u20 players who captain their clubs…i mean come on GFA who r u seriously trying to fool. as if an 18 or 19 year old can actually captain a club.
