Kotoko fans have threatened to withdraw their support for New Edubiase after the Bekwai club declared publicly it won’t be voting for Kotoko’s candidate in the Ghana FA Executive Committee elections.

Edubiase President Abdul Salam Yakubu told Kumasi-based radio station Kessben FM he won’t vote for Kotoko’s candidate; Kwame Baah-Nuako in Thursday’s Executive Committee elections.

The elections was made necessary following the death of Kotoko board member Lawyer Owusu-Ansah.

The Kumasi-base club is thus desperate to retain its seat on the Executive Committee as one of the six Premier League representatives.

However, their candidate, Baah-Nuako is up against serious competition particularly from AshantiGold Chief Executive Kudjoe Fianoo and J.F Mensah of Ebusua Dwarfs.

But Kotoko strategists have told GHANAsoccernet.com they have all but secured the seat only that they are shy off safety by just one vote – one that Edubiase are unwilling to give.

The situation has seen some Kotoko supporter leaders spreading a directive to withdraw its support for Edubiase in the event they lose the seat.

The directive picked up by GHANAsoccernet.com include withdrawing support for Edubiase in Premier League games and also in their maiden campaign in the Confederations Cup.

This move according to sources is to put immense pressure on Edubiase to hand their vote to Kotoko’s candidate.

It remains to be seen whether the new tactic will help Kotoko win the vacant seat with a few hours to opening the polls at the Ghana FA headquarters in Accra.
