Supporters of Asante Kotoko have warned management of the club not to take any cash as prize money for their Premier League feat.

The Porcupine Warriors clinched their 22nd league championship with four games to spare and are getting ready to take delivery of their prize from the Premier League Board at an awards ceremony on Saturday.

The supporters are however unhappy with hints that the prize package which includes a mini-bus which was given to Berekium Chelsea for their league feat last season will be converted into a cash.

This hint according to the Greater Accra Regional Circles chairman Emmanuel Boamah will be vehemently rejected by the supporters if indeed it turns out to be true and has thus warned management of it.

“We have heard of a scheme to convert the bus prize into cash and this we don’t understand,’ he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

“If they really want to give us cash then they (PLB) should have discussed it with the club and come to the agreement that the said cash is equivalent to the money to be given so we can go and buy our bus.

“But they didn’t, and we understand they will go ahead and award cash which is not worth buying a bus therefore we want to warn the Executive Chairman (Dr. Sarpong) and his entire management that they will be prevented by our supporters from entering the awards auditorium if indeed they are going to take the cash.

“Chelsea (Berekum) were given a bus last season, so why don’t they (PLB) give us similar treatment after labouring to win the league.

“We will like to inform the Executive Chairman and his entire officials that they were not the only people who brought us league success and therefore they cannot take us for a ride.

“We are warning him and I re-emphasize, warning him not to take any cash but rather the bus otherwise they will have a lot to answer for.”

The Premier League awards ceremony will take place on Saturday night at the plush Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi.

plb should give us our bus and stop fooling around, have they forgotten kotoko is big than berekum chelsea? why should plb gave chelsea a bus last year and decided to give kotoko money.k.k sarpong should waste his time and collect cheap money as an award money

An ordinary bus as title prize?? Pitiable! How much is glo even “pouring” into d league. Can’t d fa find a better sponsor? Besides, they should even get a better broadcasting deal. OMP is a joke, and d quality of tv broadcast is extremely poor. Get an outfit that has d financial muscle to whip up interest in d league even if it’s not a ghanaian media house. Then get them to give free2air stations a share. Or beta still, d plb should work out 2 packages-a pay tv one & a free to air one. Then again, get a real title sponsor after d glo “deal” ends. They’re doin nothing and deserve no exposure. I’ll tackle d clubs later.

Oh Oh Oh…Sometimes i wonder. Some uneducated fans can really be foooolish. ah ah. Shouldn’t they be rather worried about the amount involved?… If the money can buy a car, what is the supporters’ problem with that? Who said the management need the bus at all cost?…If they believe the have more pressing needs that the money can cater for. Where ignorance is bliss, it is foolish to be wise.!!!

  5. BABA says:

Hahahaaaa, the supporters know them. But they need the money to off their debtssssss and pay they clubs and individual players that helped them to win the cup.

  6. OTUMFUO says:

All shd sit down n talk. It is not everything that u go on air to talk.
    @BABA, shut up.

  7. Fresher says:

@ Boss fr cincase:- eihey! Where else have you got the word “villagecal” from? You can tease, you can make painful and punchy criticism, you can write positive propaganda about your club, or unleash a negative propaganda comments at an opposing club, but to insult somebody is not a wise thing to do here. My respect goes out to TERROR.

  8. KT says:

GSN, the history books say its 21 not 22. In a certain year, which I cant recall, the league was boycotted by the clubs as protest. At the time, the porcupine was on top. But that year is not added when the counting is being done. So correct it, because champions were not crowned!!!!

  9. Enock says:

The phobias should shatap.whether bus or cash,KOTOKO is still the champions of Ghana and the best team in africa.FABULOUS”no size

  10. Kobby says:

mr. Writer pls kotoko hav won 21 titles…nt 22. Do some history research.

  11. BABA says:

The best team in Africa. Hahahahhahaa.

  12. NII says:

Congrates to all the winners of the awards esp nii. He is our own

  13. Fresher says:

@ KT-: What record book did you read that stipulates that there was a year that the clubs boycotted the league and Kotoko was not crowned the league champions, albeit Kotoko was on top of the league table? What year was that? Well, if it is true some clubs did boycotted the league @ a time Kotoko was leading the league table, technically, obviously Kotoko were infact the champions without question. Honestly speaking, your level of knowledge is in serious doubt here my good friend, so long as you cannot stipulate the year that the league was boycotted then how be believe your assertion that you have read some history books that records that Kotoko won the league 21 times, and not 22 times as it is known as a well established fact. In which MUSEUM or library can those books be found so that we also can go and peruse or have a look @ those books.
