Asante Kotoko striker Seidu Bancey insists he is not desperate to win the top scorer award in the Premier League following his brace in the 4-1 thrashing of AshantiGold.

The 23-year-old elected himself to take a penalty in Sunday’s impressive win over AshGold.

Many believe Bancey’s decision to take the spot kick ahead of penalty expert Kwabena Edusei was motivated by his personal ambition to win the Goal King award at the end of the season.

But the ex Ebusua Dwarfs player is adamant his only target is to help the side retain the Ghanaian top flight title and not the Goal King award.

“Goal King is not my priority; my priority is to help the team retain the league trophy,” he told Metro FM.

“I took the penalty because I felt I could score at that particular time and thankfully I scored and not because I am desperate to be the Goal King.”

Bancey currently lead the goalscorer’s chart in the Premier League with 10 goals from the 13 matches he has played so far this season.
