Kotoko striker Ahmed Toure has strenuously denied claims he's feigning illness ahead of Sunday’s super clash against rivals Hearts of Oak.

The 28-year-old has a ‘bout of malaria’, to cast doubts about his involvement at the Accra sports stadium.

But the fans are unimpressed, accusing him of feigning injury to avoid the clash in the capital but the Burkinabe international insists he’s not faking the illness.

“If you have malaria, you don’t have to talk too much,” he told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM

“You have been here at the training ground and you have seen how I look. So how can I feigned injury and for what purpose?

“Gradually I’m feeling better and I hope to be ready before Sunday.

The two struggling go at each other in a battle of survival with Hearts deeply involved in the relegation dog-fight.

A win for the Phobians will see them move on the same points with the Porcupine Warriors, who are lying 11 with 32 points with six games to end the season.
