Asante Kotoko broke a 41-year-old Ghanaian record in CAF's inter-clubs competition after last Sunday's 7-0 thumping of Sony ela Nguema in the Champions League.

Kotoko's rivals Hearts of Oak were the highest scoring Ghanaian side after clobbering Zambian side Kabwe Warriors at Accra Sports Stadium in 1972.

The Porcupine Warriors are set for qualification into the next stage of the qualifiers with the return leg fixed for the weekend of 1-3 March.

Two goals from striker Kofi Nti Boakye and a goal each from Michael Anaba, Abdul Yusif Aziz, Richard Mpong, Seidu Bancey and Joseph contributed to the demolition exercise.

Sony Nguema lost 6-0 to Hearts of Oak the last time they played in Ghana back in 1999 also in the CAF Champions League.
