Kotoko have decided not to renew the contract of Yahaya Mohammed after it expired on Saturday, paving the way for the in-demand striker to join arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The Porcupine Warriors lifted the suspension on the local Black Stars striker before deciding not to extend his contract which expired on Saturday, a letter from Kotoko by GHANAsoccernet.com has revealed.
This paves the way for the talented but controversial striker to join Hearts of Oak who are keen on boosting their attacking options ahead of the start of the Premier League.
Mohammed was suspended by the Porcupines after it emerged that he had signed a pre-contract agreement for a Libyan side earlier this year.
Kotoko's investigations into the issue discovered that Mohammed violated the terms of contract with their club which resulted in the decision to ostracise him.
Now Kotoko have told the player that they are not interested in extending his expired contract so he is free to join any club of his choice on a free transfer.
"In view of the fact that your behaviour was unacceptable to the technical head and management of the club, we have decided not to renew your contract when it expires on 9th August, 2014," the Kotoko letter to the striker read.
Hearts of Oak are keen on signing him while it is not known if the Libyan side will begin the attempt to sign him again after the initial botched move.
